Gaka Mira (b. 1970, Bruges, Belgium) is a contemporary artist whose practice merges visual art and music. Raised in his father's printing house, his earliest inspirations came from the scent of ink and the imagery of freshly printed art books—an imprint that still resonates in his work today.
After years as a psychotherapist, music teacher, and coach, a pivotal point in his career brought him back to the arts through music, culminating in the founding of a private music school in Oostkamp.
Over time, his creative path evolved into a full-time visual practice, where abstract and figurative elements collide in bold, layered compositions using acrylics, pure pigments, and epoxy resin.
He is currently collaborating with a science based program at the School of Arts of Gent, experimenting with ‘structural color’, the iridescent colors we find in nature, like on the wings of butterflies, peacock feathers and beetles.
Gaka Mira’s work, deeply informed by systems theory and human connections, explores themes of identity, collectivity, and the unseen forces that shape us. His glossy, almost three-dimensional paintings invite introspection, acting as mirrors in which viewers confront their own beliefs and place within a shared human experience.
Since 2023, Gaka Mira has committed fully to his art, exhibiting internationally across Paris, Milan, Venice, Lecce, New York, Monaco, Madrid, Florence and beyond. His art seeks to transcend division and complexity —offering instead a poetic, universal language rooted in essence, presence, and wonder.
